After Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar's mother passed away on Wednesday morning, it was director Aanand L Rai whose mother also passed away the same morning. Aanand L Rai and his brother Ravi Rai, who were deeply attached to their mother, rushed to be by her side after her demise. Aanand L Rai and his brother Ravi shared a close bond with their mother.

Producer Shailesh Singh, a close friend of director Aanand L Rai was among the first ones to visit at Rai's residence. It is a difficult time for Aanand L Rai's family.

On the work front, Aanand L Rai has interesting movies coming up. The director is collaborating with Akshay Kumar on Raksha Bandhan and Atrangi Re. Talking about Raksha Bandhan, Akshay Kumar will be seen sharing screen space with Bhumi Pednekar in the same. Akshay and Bhumi earlier worked together in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. Atrangi Re, on the other hand, also stars Sara Ali Khan and South star Dhanush. They have finished shooting for the film. Talking about Akshay Kumar, the actor shared the news of mother's death on social media. Taking to Twitter, he wrote, "She was my core. And today I feel an unbearable pain at the very core of my existence. My maa Smt Aruna Bhatia peacefully left this world today morning and got reunited with my dad in the other world. I respect your prayers as I and my family go through this period. Om Shanti." Director Rohit Shetty, Riteish Deshmukh among others attended the funeral of the actor's mother.
